Delivering fish and chips to the leading grocery delivery team
In October 2019, The Frying Squad were delighted to be asked to feed the hard working team at Ocado’s distribution centres in Wimbledon and Heathrow on the occasion of the Staff Appreciation Day.
Ocado are the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer with over 580,000 active customers shopping on a regular basis. Their objective is to provide customers with the best possible shopping experience in terms of service, range and price, but to achieve this they are very focussed on providing their staff with a positive, supportive working environment.
Treating the Ocado team on Staff Appreciation Day
This means designing benefits packages in tune with what different groups of employees want, and they strive to show their staff that they care about them… hence feeding them with The Frying Squad’s legendary line caught cod loin fish, crisp golden Maris Piper chips and Halloumi fried in delicious gluten-free batter. No better treat for a team of hard working team of deserving (and hungry!) staff.
Ocado’s Customer Service Team Members, in other words their delivery driver team, is the largest in the business are essential to the success of the business.
The company invest a significant amount of time and resources in recruiting the right people and developing their skills, as they regard retaining employees as vitally important to the business.
Ocado launched their first two depots, or ‘spokes’ as they refer to them, in Wimbledon and Heathrow in 2016 and have since opened new centres in Bristol, Andover and Erith, which will be the world’s largest automated warehouse for online grocery distribution.
